Description

also called: Blue-Spotted, Striped-Fin Bristletooth Surgeonfish . Members of the genus Ctenochaetus are also called Bristle Tooth Tangs, making reference to their mouths. Their mouths are adapted to make scraping an alga meal from rocks easier. These Tangs are agile swimmers and entertain the aquarium viewer with their amusing antics. This Indian Ocean endemic is quite similar to its Pacific counterpart, theYellow Eye Kole Tang. In this species, the body and head is covered in numerous light colored dots. It is an active species that will graze on microalgae growing on the aquarium glass and décor. Its teeth are adapted for diatoms off of hard substrates and its needs are easily met in the aquarium.It is a passive tang that gets along well in the community aquarium.

Feeding

Tangs are herbivores and their diets should contain a variety of marine vegetable matter, such as seaweed.
