Description

An omnivore commonly found in the Indian and Pacific Oceans. It is often found eating a mix of algae, Jellyfish and small animals. Batfish are well known for their unique shape, being taller than they are long. This creates a special requirement for housing these fish. As they grow taller they will require a "tall" aquarium with plenty of open space to swim around. Another recommendation for housing Batfish is to only provide peaceful tank mates. Aggressive tank mates may be attracted to nip at the long fins of the batfish. Not a good reef dweller, it will eat many types of sessile invertebrates including corals and anemones. The Teira needs a minimum of a 180-gallon tank with plenty of unobstructed room to swim. As with all Batfish, the Teira is susceptible to ich.

Feeding

Omnivore; algae, brine shrimp, jellyfish, meaty foods
